Its Cold Out There Skincare

Around this time of year we're all singing the same tune, especially here in northern Canada. Dehydrated skin, red from the cold and crazy dull. Personally, the cold wind takes it's toll on my already dry skin and I end up a scaly beast. Our skincare has to change as the seasons change, and I'm pretty happy with my winter arsenal. These babies wage one hell of a war on winter and the results have been incredible.

In the morning, I like to apply the Aveda Botanical Kinetics Intense Hydrating Rich Creme to freshly cleansed skin. It has a unique texture compared to most "rich" creams I've used and feels surprisingly lightweight which allows me to use it in the morning. I am a huge fan of Aveda products and love that it does so much for my skin without the use of harmful ingredients. Following that, I add a drop of my Josie Maran Argan Oil to my foundation to further infuse moisture into my skin. This product is perfect for the winter as it is so multi-purpose and can be used over the entire body. I love the dewy finish my foundation takes on when I add this product.

By the end of the day my skin is practically crying for more moisture, so I tend to wash my face as soon as I'm in for the evening. I'll then apply my GlamGlow ThirstyMud Hydrating Treatment and go about my evening. Honestly, I leave this product on for a full hour or two before I wash it off and often I will sleep in it. This is the best mask I've ever used and one look at the ingredients list will tell you why. Anti-inflammatory and hydrating ingredients like allantoin, glycerin, honey and a ton of fruit extracts are to thank for the radiant skin it leaves behind. On the nights where I don't sleep with this mask, I apply my Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum under my moisturizer. Serums are formulated with smaller molecules and highly potent, so I like to use this hydrating one to deliver moisture and anti aging ingredients into the deeper layers of my skin.

On the particularly scaly days I reach for my First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. I love that this product is formulated for your entire body but doesn't clog the pores on my face! Often after walking home from work, my cheeks have major windburn and this little guy clears it up crazy fast. If I forget my mitts and end up with equally scaly hands (which happens most days) this product is up to the challenge.

How does your skincare routine in the winter? Any suggestions for me?
